No forwarding in WhatsApp
WhatsApp can move a call between your own linked devices, not to another person or number.
You can’t forward WhatsApp calls in the WhatsApp or WhatsApp Business app: at the time of writing (October 2026), we did not find a call forwarding setting in either, and your mobile carrier’s call forwarding only covers regular calls to your SIM, not WhatsApp calls, which arrive over the internet. To send WhatsApp calls to colleagues or other phones, move the number to Meta’s WhatsApp Business Platform and use a tool such as Dialaunch, which routes each call to the right person on their own WhatsApp, a desk phone or the browser.
WhatsApp can move a call between your own linked devices, not to another person or number.
Forwarding set with your mobile operator applies to calls over the mobile network, not WhatsApp calls.
On the Business Platform, every WhatsApp call goes where your call flow sends it.
When a WhatsApp call comes in, you can answer it, decline it or let it ring. If you have linked devices, WhatsApp’s help centre explains that you can transfer an active call to another of your own linked devices, for example from your phone to your computer. That keeps the call on your account. It doesn’t pass the caller to a colleague or ring a different number.
Call forwarding codes and the call forwarding menu on your phone are services of your mobile operator. They redirect calls made to your SIM number over the mobile network. A WhatsApp call doesn’t use that network: it reaches the app over the internet, so carrier forwarding never sees it.
Be careful with forwarding codes sent to you by someone else. Account takeover scams have used them to intercept WhatsApp verification calls. Never dial a code you didn’t look up yourself.
Without forwarding, teams usually fall back on habits that break as soon as calls pick up.
Dialaunch connects your WhatsApp Business number through Meta’s WhatsApp Business Platform, so calls no longer live on one phone. A visual call flow decides where every call goes: the AI agent answers first, a keypad menu sends sales and support to the right team, a queue rings the agents who are free, and opening hours decide what happens after closing.
Calls ring on the phone your team already uses: their own WhatsApp, a SIP desk phone or softphone, or the browser. One number takes many calls at once, so a second caller is answered, routed or queued instead of hitting a busy line.
When the AI agent is on the call and the customer asks for a person, it transfers the call to your team. Supervisors can also listen live, whisper and take over in one click.
If customers also call a regular phone number, connect it through your own SIP trunk and it follows the same call flow as WhatsApp. Dialaunch doesn’t provide or port numbers: your provider keeps the number, and Dialaunch answers and routes the calls.
Answer these questions and your call flow is mostly designed.

No. Carrier call forwarding redirects calls to your SIM number over the mobile network. WhatsApp calls arrive over the internet, so they are not forwarded.
Connect the number to the WhatsApp Business Platform with a tool such as Dialaunch. Each call is then routed to a free agent on their own WhatsApp, a SIP desk phone or the browser.
Not from the app. With Dialaunch, agents can answer WhatsApp calls on a SIP desk phone, so the call rings on a desk phone instead of a mobile.
Yes. Dialaunch’s AI agent answers, handles what it can, and transfers the call to your team when the caller asks for a person or is upset.
