Phone lines vs WhatsApp calls
Vapi is built around phone numbers and SIP. At the time of writing (October 2026), we did not find Vapi documentation for WhatsApp voice calls.
Vapi and Dialaunch both put an AI voice on your calls, but they are built for different people. Vapi is a developer platform: you assemble a voice agent through its API and dashboard, connect phone numbers or a SIP trunk, and write the logic yourself. Dialaunch is a ready-made AI agent for WhatsApp calls with your team in control. Connect your WhatsApp Business number, teach the AI your business, and it answers many calls at once, while your team listens live and takes over in one click.

Vapi gives developers building blocks. Dialaunch is live in about 15 minutes, with no code, and our team can do the setup for you.
Dialaunch adds queues, keypad menus, live listening, whisper and one-click takeover, so people step in when it matters.
Vapi describes itself as a platform for developers to build voice agents that make and receive phone calls. Its documentation covers phone numbers (including importing numbers from carriers such as Twilio and Telnyx), SIP trunking, a transfer call tool with blind and warm modes, and squads of assistants that hand off to each other. It is a strong toolkit for engineering teams that want full control over every part of the agent.
Dialaunch is for businesses whose customers call them on WhatsApp and who want the result, not the project. On one WhatsApp phone you can take one call at a time, and the next caller hits a busy line. With Dialaunch, one WhatsApp Business number takes many simultaneous calls: each one is answered by the AI agent, routed to the next free agent, queued with hold music, or handled by the step you configured.
Vapi’s documentation index lists phone numbers, SIP and web calls, and no WhatsApp channel. A request to use Vapi voice agents on WhatsApp sits on Vapi’s public roadmap. Dialaunch connects your WhatsApp Business number through Meta’s WhatsApp Business Platform. Customers tap call in WhatsApp as they always do, and the AI answers in any language they speak, in HD voice with no lag. It confirms orders, books appointments in Google Calendar, checks deliveries, creates callbacks and calls your own systems through an API you connect.
Both tools put an AI voice on calls. The difference is who builds it and which channel it is made for.
If you have developers and want to build a custom voice product, pick each component yourself, and run phone calls at scale through your own carriers, Vapi is a strong fit. It is also the natural choice when the voice agent is part of a product you sell, rather than a way to answer your own customers.
Dialaunch fits when your customers call your WhatsApp number and you want an AI agent that answers today, without a build. Every call gets a summary, key moments and an outcome. The AI says it is an AI, and it hands the call to a person when the caller asks or is upset. Your team keeps the full contact centre: queues, keypad menus, opening hours, recording with consent and retention, and reporting on answer rate, abandoned calls and service level.
Teams that already run Vapi on phone lines can keep it there and connect their WhatsApp number to Dialaunch. If you would rather have one system, Dialaunch can also answer your regular phone number through your own SIP trunk, in the same flows as WhatsApp.
Once a WhatsApp number is connected to Dialaunch, it stops working in the WhatsApp Business app, and the app’s chat history does not move over. Meta’s approval of the number can take 1 to 3 days. Plans start at €69 a month, with a 14-day trial and 60 AI minutes.

If your customers call you on WhatsApp and you want an AI agent without a development project, Dialaunch is built for that: one WhatsApp Business number takes many calls at once, the AI answers in any language, and your team can listen live and take over in one click.
No. Setup takes about 15 minutes: connect WhatsApp, teach the AI your business from your website, catalog and answers, test it, then switch it on. If you want the AI to call your own systems, you connect them through an API.
Yes. The AI hands the call to your team when the caller asks or is upset. The call rings on the phone your team already uses, and a manager can also listen live, whisper or take over in one click, then hand back to the AI.
Flat monthly plans: Starter €69, Team €169 and Business €299, excl. VAT, with AI minutes and seats included. Extra seats are €19 a month and AI overage is €0.15 a minute. Phone minutes come from a prepaid balance, and Meta may bill your WhatsApp Business account directly for some usage. The 14-day trial includes 60 AI minutes.
