Chat-first vs calls-first
respond.io is built around conversations and workflows. Dialaunch is built around the WhatsApp call and what happens before, during and after it.
respond.io and Dialaunch both run on Meta’s WhatsApp Business Platform and both take WhatsApp voice calls. They are built for different jobs. respond.io is a conversation platform for sales and support teams: an omnichannel inbox, workflows and AI agents for chats, where WhatsApp calls sit next to messages. Dialaunch is an AI agent for WhatsApp calls with your team in control: one WhatsApp Business number takes many calls at once, each answered by the AI agent, routed to the next free agent, queued with hold music, or handled by the step you designed.

Keypad menus, queues with hold music, opening hours and fallbacks, with the AI agent placed exactly where you want it.
Agents answer on their own WhatsApp, a SIP desk phone or softphone, or the browser. No new app to install.
respond.io describes itself as an AI-powered customer conversation platform for B2C sales and support. It brings WhatsApp, Instagram, Messenger, email and other channels into one inbox, with workflows, contact management and AI agents. According to its help centre, WhatsApp calls are enabled per WhatsApp channel in workspace settings, arrive in the respond.io Inbox and its mobile app, and require a minimum balance of $10 to receive calls.
Dialaunch is for businesses whose customers pick up the phone. On a single WhatsApp phone you can take one call at a time, and the next caller hits a busy line. Dialaunch lets one WhatsApp Business number take many simultaneous calls, answered by an AI agent that sounds like a person, in HD voice with no lag, and backed by a team that can listen, whisper and take over at any moment.
respond.io places WhatsApp calls inside the conversation: agents see incoming calls in the Inbox, pick up, transfer, and get recordings and transcripts next to the chat. Its blog and help centre describe Voice AI Agents that answer inbound WhatsApp calls on the Advanced plan and transfer callers to the team. At the time of writing (October 2026), we did not find documentation for keypad menus (IVR) or hold queues with music on WhatsApp calls in respond.io; check with them if you need these.
Dialaunch is designed around that call. You build the flow in a visual editor: a keypad menu, a queue with hold music, opening hours with holidays and time zones, voicemail and fallbacks. The AI agent answers in any language your customers speak, from your own information, and does the work: it confirms orders, books appointments in Google Calendar, checks deliveries, creates callbacks and calls your systems through an API you connect. It says it is an AI, and hands the call to a person when asked or when the caller is upset.
Both tools take WhatsApp calls. They differ in how deep they go on voice versus chat.
If your team mostly sells and supports through chat, needs advanced workflows across many messaging channels, and treats calls as an occasional extra inside a conversation, respond.io is a strong platform. Its contact management and automation depth for messaging is its home ground.
Dialaunch fits when calls are where the money and the stress are: busy hours, callers who should be answered instantly instead of ringing out, an AI agent that resolves the routine calls, and a team that steps in on the ones that matter. You get an AI agent for WhatsApp calls, call flows, live supervision and reporting in one place, from €69 a month.
A common setup uses two WhatsApp numbers: keep a sales or marketing number on respond.io for chats and campaigns, and connect the number customers call to Dialaunch.
Once a WhatsApp number is connected to Dialaunch, it stops working in the WhatsApp Business app on that number, and the app’s chat history does not move over. Setup takes about 15 minutes with a guided flow; Meta’s approval of the number can take 1 to 3 days.
Yes. According to respond.io’s help centre, WhatsApp calls can be enabled per WhatsApp channel and are handled in its Inbox and mobile app, with a minimum balance required to receive calls. Its Voice AI Agents can answer inbound WhatsApp calls on the Advanced plan.
If calls are your main channel, Dialaunch is built for them: one WhatsApp Business number takes many calls at once, an AI agent answers and does the work, and your team listens, whispers and takes over when needed.
At the time of writing (October 2026), we did not find documentation for keypad menus on WhatsApp calls in respond.io; check with them. Dialaunch includes keypad menus, queues with hold music, opening hours and fallbacks.
Yes, with separate WhatsApp numbers: one on respond.io for messaging, one on Dialaunch for calls. Dialaunch also has a shared inbox for messages if you want both on one number.
